We are a business-to-business platform that enables employers to train employees in accounting, tax, and advisory without the conventional overhead that makes the process extremely labor and time intensive; not to mention a non-starter in terms of ROI.
We have a reputation for producing effective and efficient trainees at a reasonable cost for the CPA and Accounting Firms who have subscribed to and implemented our learning platform. We will continue to add more software brands and processes to our learning modules as our community of users rapidly grows and provides us with feedback for new content desired.
There are two training models in SkillAbility: Classic and MAPS (Modern Accountant Professional Series). Classic teaches how to perform the technical work efficiently in software. MAPS develops staff into trusted advisors.

SkillAbility is an extensive online training platform that is the brainchild of Vincent Howard CPA, managing shareholder of respected CPA firm Howard, Howard & Hodges (“HHH”) based in Lake Mary, Florida. HHH was founded in 1961 and currently has over 55 employees across multiple states. SkillAbility leverages over 50 years of operational & technical knowledge and experience which is shared with its users to improve the success of their practices. The team who develops and supports the learning system are also hands-on practitioners with real world experience and responsibility for servicing business and individual clients.

The platform was originally intended to enable remote training during the COVID-19 pandemic for internal training purposes and consisted of videos and documents to be shared with new hires. It was a MS Word document outlining the first 90 days of employment and had hyperlinks to the videos and documents located on HHH’s internal servers. The excellent results produced by that method and the enthusiasm of colleagues from other firms desiring access, led to the evolution of the training system you see today.

TIME & WORK EFFECTIVENESS

Through SkillAbility training, staff accountants/bookkeepers become more proficient and are capable of managing assigned client accounting and/or payroll work grossing $15,000/month or more within 90 days. Furthermore, accounting & tax managers trained under our system gain the ability to complete tax planning and business & individual income tax return preparation for over 50 clients within 90-120 days. CONSISTENCY

The trainee is given 2-3 weeks of training boot camp during which all of their focus is on learning and no real client work is assigned. The trainee has access to all of the learning materials and can go over them as many times as they need to fully absorb and comprehend the work. In addition, a 15-20 minute of daily meeting is held with your firm’s internal manager/facilitator during the training period to assist trainees with questions.

Our firm has gone through quite a bit of staffing changes in the last 5 years. In mid 2021, we had 2 out of 3 of our very experienced staff accountants leave within 60 days of each other, leaving us without staff, but also, no capacity for existing staff to train them.
